Ingredients

– 500g strong white flour
– 15g sugar
– 330ml milk
– 9g salt
– 20g butter
– 1 x 11g sachet of Saf-instant Baker’s dry yeast
– Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Preparation

1. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, butter, milk and yeast.

2. Knead until you have a dough with an even consistency.

3. Cover with a damp cloth and leave to rest for 45 minutes.

4. Then shape into small pieces of around 100g and put on a baking sheet.

5. Cover with a cloth to prevent the dough drying out and leave to rest at room temperature for 45 minutes.

6. Sprinkle your buns with sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional), and bake for 30 minutes at 160°C.

Allow your buns to cool on a cooling rack after baking, before filling them.

Variation

For an aperitif, you could make a miniature version of these buns to serve mini burgers or mini sandwiches!
